Management Foundations (student outcomes focus)
course requirements
- Motivated participants who are willing to learn and develop skills and competencies which will result in observable improvements in the participant’s leadership and management performance in their current position in their current workplace, and/or will assist the participant in gaining more senior leadership positions in the same or different workplace.
- Willingness to experience an Action Learning approach where theory underlying practice is applied meaningfully in the workplace. Knowledge gained is transferred rapidly into managerial competence through conscious practice. This provides the evidence needed for assessment.
- Your computer whether it is a PC or a notebook will take the place of texts that may have been used in traditional courses. Your computer will of course be loaded with the latest state of the art software program which will be the main “tool” used in the entire course. The software you will be using is MindSights™ Premium Package.
- Texts will assist in providing depth and breadth of skills. The recommended* texts for the course are:
- The Management Bible - Neil Flanagan & Jervis Finger
- Management Theory and Practice - Kris Cole
- The Supervisor’s Guide - Kris Cole
(*Although the course is competencey based, underlying theory will also be assessed. The above texts are highly recommended. The relevant content for the assessment of underlying theory in the course can all be found in the above texts.)
